Die BMW AG hat am gestrigen Donnerstag (26.11.2009) mit Peter Sauber eine Einigung über den Verkauf des BMW Sauber F1 Teams erzielt. Der Vertrag ist an die Bedingung geknüpft, dass das Team einen Startplatz für die Formel-1-Saison 2010 erhält.
Dr. Klaus Draeger, im Vorstand der BMW AG zuständig für Entwicklung, sagte heute Morgen: „Wir sind sehr froh über diese Lösung. Damit ist die wichtigste Voraussetzung für eine erfolgreiche Zukunft des Teams erfüllt. Unser Verhältnis zu Peter Sauber war immer ausgezeichnet und von höchstem Respekt geprägt. Wir möchten uns bei Peter Sauber und der ganzen Mannschaft für die exzellente Zusammenarbeit in den vergangenen vier Jahren ganz herzlich bedanken.“
Peter Sauber ergänzte: „Ich bin sehr erleichtert, dass wir diese Lösung gefunden haben. Damit können wir den Standort Hinwil und einen Großteil der Arbeitsplätze erhalten. Ich bin überzeugt, dass das neue Team eine sehr gute Zukunft in der Formel 1 haben wird, die sich derzeit mit neuen Rahmenbedingungen zugunsten der Privatteams verändert. Wir haben hier fähige, motivierte Mitarbeiter, und ich freue mich, mit ihnen gemeinsam die neue Herausforderung anzunehmen. Ich möchte mich bei BMW für vier gemeinsame, insgesamt sehr erfolgreiche Jahre bedanken.“
Der zunächst geplante Verkauf an Qadbak Investment Ltd. wird damit nicht vollzogen.
Eine weitere Vereinbarung mit Peter Sauber sieht einen Stellenabbau von derzeit 388 auf rund 250 Mitarbeiter vor. Die Neuausrichtung des Teams und die Erfüllung zukünftiger Rahmenbedingungen machen dies notwendig. Deshalb wurden heute entsprechende Kündigungen ausgesprochen. Die BMW AG bedauert die Notwendigkeit des Stellenabbaus und wird bei der Umstrukturierung unterstützen. Auf Grund der genannten Neuausrichtung des Teams sind weitere Kündigungen in naher Zukunft zum heutigen Zeitpunkt nicht auszuschließen.

This fulfils the most important requirement for a successful future for the team. Our relationship with Peter Sauber has always been excellent and marked by absolute respect. We would like to express our thanks to Peter Sauber and the whole team for the excellent cooperation during the recent four years.”
Peter Sauber added: ““I am very relieved that we have found this solution. It means we can keep the Hinwil location and the majority of workplaces. I am convinced that the new team has a very good future in Formula One, whose current transformation with new framework conditions will benefit the private teams. Our staff here are highly competent and motivated, and I look forward to taking on this new challenge together with them. I would like to thank BMW for four shared years that have in the main been very successful.“
This means that the sale to Qadbak Investment Ltd. that was initially planned will not be completed.
A further agreement with Peter Sauber proposes personnel cuts from the current level of 388 to around 250 employees. The restructuring of the team and compliance with future framework conditions have made this essential. Notices of redundancy have therefore been issued today. BMW AG regrets the need for these personnel cutbacks and will support the restructuring. At this moment in time, due to the aforementioned restructuring of the team, it is not possible to exclude the possibility of further redundancies in the near future.
