VLN 2010: Positive Bilanz … trotz Ausfall bei rent2Drive

Einen nicht ganz gelungen Auftakt zur Langstreckenmeisterschaft VLN gelang dem rent2drive-racing Team am vergangen Wochenende auf dem Nürburgring. Bei kühlen Temperaturen und zeitweiligem Regen, präsentierte sich die Eifel nicht gerade mit dem besten Rennwetter.

Startfahrer auf dem E46 war Mario Ketterer. Dieser fuhr von Anfang an schnelle und kontinuierliche Rundenzeiten und übergab den BMW an Michel Heimrich, der zwar nicht über 30jährige Rennsporterfahrung verfügt, aber bereits im letzten Jahr bei rent2Drive-racing zeigte, dass er schnell unterwegs ist und das Fahrzeug am Limit bewegen kann. Kurz vor dem Fahrerwechsel wurde der BMW durch einen Dreher im hinteren Bereich schwer beschädigt. Beim Boxenstopp übernahm dann David Ackermann das Steuer und konnte, trotz Handicap, den 2. Platz in der Klasse V6 bis 2 Runden vor Schluss behaupten. Ein Reifenschaden verursachte dann im Streckenabschnitt Brünnchen einen Dreher, der zum entgültigen AUS für das Team führte.
Sein Renndebüt auf dem Nürburgring gab der US Amerikaner Mark White, der in diesem Jahr neben Einsätzen auf dem Nürburgring ebenso in der Amerikanischen Grand Am Serie an den Start geht . Unterstützt von der russischen Fahrerpaarung Andrew Aganov und Leonid Silave, pilotierte er den BMW M3 E36 in der V5. Den Start fuhr Andrew Aganov der das Rennfahrzeug bereits im Vorjahr fuhr. Dieser übergab den BMW in Runde 8 an Mark White der von Runde zu Runde immer besser mit dem Boliden und den Gegebenheiten der Nordschleife zurecht kam. Leider kam aber auch für den zweiten BMW in Runde 16 durch einen Unfall das AUS.
